UPMC’s Outpatient Center in Meadville recently completed an expansion that doubled the practice in space and capacity, located at 16039 Conneaut Lake Rd. Experts from UPMC Hamot, UPMC Northwest, UPMC Magee-Womens, UPMC Presbyterian-Shadyside, and more see patients at the center regularly.
“The UPMC Outpatient Center in Meadville opened in 2022 with nine patients,” said Shelley Vogel, senior practice manager. “By the end of this year, we will see well over 9,000 patients.” In just two years, the practice has grown into a hub of specialty services, meeting the needs of the surrounding communities.
“In the expansion, we nearly doubled our existing space, allowing more UPMC experts to service the area,” said Vogel. Thanks to the more than 30 UPMC providers who travel from other hospitals around the system, patients can receive high-quality care without leaving their community.”
“We are proud to bring even more access to world-class care that is closer to home for residents in Crawford County and beyond,” said Lynn Rupp, vice president, administrative services, UPMC Hamot and president, Regional Health Services. “We have more than 15 specialty services under one roof and access to UPMC resources, a variety of experts, equipment and technology right here in Meadville.”
Those specialty services include bariatric surgery, gastroenterology, imaging, podiatry, primary care, women’s health, and many more.
In an article by the Meadville Tribune shortly after the outpatient center’s grand opening, Rupp explained the care that the new practice could provide to community members. “We’re looking to continue to grow services as we see community need and benefit — in cooperation with our partners at Meadville Medical Center, of course,” Rupp said. She had anticipated an expansion of the practice as demand grew. Now, the UPMC Outpatient Center in Meadville is equipped to meet the needs of the community for years to come.
“The best part of working on the expansion was knowing the profound effect UPMC would have on the underserved patients in Meadville and the surrounding areas,” said Vogel. “The team did a phenomenal job with the expansion process, becoming a source of comfort to the different departments who came to us.
“I was proud of my staff, colleagues, and friends for staying positive through every step,” said Vogel. On July 11, the UPMC Outpatient Center in Meadville team celebrated their work with nearly 50 community members, who enjoyed facility tours, free health screenings, light refreshments, and an opportunity to meet members of the clinical team.
Today, the UPMC Outpatient Center in Meadville is equipped to meet the community need for years to come as they continue to provide excellent, close-to-home care to Crawford County.
