This week, UPMC administered COVID-19 vaccines to community health care leaders working with The Violence Prevention Initiative, the Neighborhood Resilience Project and Casa San Jose, at its newly opened South Side Vaccination Clinic. COVID-19 has disproportionately affected those whom these groups serve.
Due to limited vaccine availability, UPMC is striving to make the most impact by prioritizing these groups within phase 1A of vaccine distribution so they can keep working in their communities. When community health care leaders are transparent about the vaccine process and lead by example, it will also help build trust in the vaccine.
