Prem Soman, M.D., Ph.D, director of nuclear cardiology at the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute, has been selected by the Cardiovascular Council of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) as the 2016 recipient of the Hermann Blumgart Award.
The award is the highest honor bestowed by the council, and is based on outstanding scientific contributions to the field of cardiovascular nuclear medicine and service to the council. Dr. Soman will be honored in June during the SNMMI annual meeting in San Diego, where he will deliver the Hermann Blumgart lecture.
Dr. Soman is an associate professor of medicine and clinical and translational science at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He serves as the director of both nuclear cardiology and the advanced cardiac imaging fellowship at UPMC.
