Meet Amanda VanArsdale, RRT-ACCS, the Respiratory Care manager at UPMC Carlisle. Amanda was inspired to pursue respiratory therapy after her childhood experiences as an asthma patient sparked a deep empathy for those she now helps every day. “I know what it’s like to not be able to breathe, and during treatment, the RTs stood out,” she said.
At UPMC Carlisle, she leads the Respiratory Care team with warmth and dedication, always putting people first. But her work doesn’t end there. Amanda keeps growing professionally — earning two master’s degrees, completing her adult critical care specialist credential, and enthusiastically taking on new roles like emergency management coordinator and UPMC Bridges lead.
She collaborates closely with colleagues across departments, helping organize events such as the Emergency Management Fair and streamlining processes for the benefit of both staff and patients.
“We are truly fortunate to have such a great team member and leader,” confirmed Josh Wedge, president, UPMC Carlisle. “Amanda leads these projects the same way she leads Respiratory Care — with a focus on caring for our staff so they can care for our patients.”
Known for her positive attitude, Amanda juggles her many responsibilities with humor and grace, always eager to learn and innovate. Her commitment truly shines as she strives for excellence, inspiring others to think creatively and work together toward outstanding care and outcomes.
