Turning Personal Experience Into Purpose

By: Sarah Deist, Maura Conte

Mark Tamburri, chief legal officer, UPMC, and Radhika Muzumdar, MD, chief of the Division of Endocrinology, UPMC Children’s Hospital, each bring a deeply personal and professional commitment to the American Diabetes Association’s mission.

As ADA board members, they support the organization’s efforts to prevent and cure diabetes and improve the lives of all people affected by the disease. Together, their work shows how UPMC employees are helping extend care, education, and support beyond hospital walls and into the community.

The mission of the American Diabetes Association is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. This includes supporting those living with type I, type II, or gestational diabetes, and those at risk for developing the disease through research, educational programming, the development of standards of care, advocacy, and community awareness.

Learn more about how Mark and Dr. Muzumdar give back through their work with the ADA in the October edition of First Friday.
