Eric Frankel, MD, vice president, Primary Care Service Line — who has been a primary care provider for more than two decades — knows firsthand how building trusting relationships with patients can help them maintain long-term overall health.
Since beginning his new role in December 2024, he’s been traveling to practices across UPMC’s footprint and working with physician leadership to set the primary care strategies across the organization. He recently sat down with First Friday to discuss his goals for the Primary Care Service Line and how the aim is to balance the benefits of a large system with the unique cultures of each community practice, ultimately making UPMC a “destination” for primary care providers.
