UPMC President and CEO Leslie Davis has been named one of the 100 most influential people in health care in 2023 by Modern Healthcare.
According to Modern Healthcare, “the awards seek to honor healthcare leaders who wield influence and clout and are making an impact in the industry. … The 2023 class includes more than 30 women, more than 30 people of color and a good representation of the various facets of the industry, including providers, payers, tech companies, associations and government.”
Davis was specifically recognized for leading UPMC while it “is investing aggressively for the future.” Highlights include the opening of the new UPMC Mercy Pavilion, the opening of UPMC Western Behavioral Health at Twin Lakes and the signing of a definitive merger agreement with Washington Health System.
Additionally, Davis’ role in prioritizing sustainability at UPMC was highlighted, including the signing of the White House Climate Pledge and the decision to eliminate use of the anesthetic Desflurane, which is harmful to the ozone layer.
