Podgurski Named Medical Director of Palliative Care at Magee

Lisa Podgurski, M.D., clinical assistant professor of medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Section of Palliative Care and Medical Ethics at UPMC, has been named the new Medical Director of Palliative Care Services at Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC.

Dr. Podgurski completed her medical degree at Harvard Medical School and residency in internal medicine at UPMC Presbyterian, along with a Hospice and Palliative Care Fellowship at the UPMC. She is board certified in internal medicine. Her clinical areas of interest include symptom management and addressing goals of care for patients with life-threatening illness in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

In addition to her medical training, Dr. Podgurski also holds an master’s degree in medical education from the University of Pittsburgh Institute for Clinical Research Education. Her current academic interests include teaching communication skills and reflection in medicine.

In her new role, Dr. Podgurski oversees all palliative care at Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC. She sees outpatients at the Magee-Womens Hospital Supportive and Palliative Care Clinic and conducts inpatient consults at Magee, as well as at UPMC Presbyterian and UPMC Shadyside.
