Celebrating Women in Construction

By: UPMC

The UPMC Kamin Tower project this week celebrated the dozens of women who continue to work at the site – carpenters, plumbers, electricians, masons, painters plus many other trades. Of the 600 daily tradespeople at the site, one in ten is a woman. That amounts to more than 420,000 hours to date, worked by women across all 17 trades supporting the Tower.

“A career in the trades is an excellent career for anyone, and we continue to see more women pursing this path. It’s a thrill to be part of a project, as massive and as significant as the Kamin Tower, from its groundbreaking to its grand opening and know that you’ve had a hand in making it a reality,” said Kelly Noel, Vice President of Construction, Real Estate & Facilities UPMC.
